The Bayfield High School baseball team traveled to La Jara on Saturday and came away with two convincing wins against Centauri, crushing them 8-4 and 26-1. The Wolverines broke open a close Game 1 with a five-run fourth inning, while in Game 2 they scored 7 runs in the first and second innings to put the game away early. Several Bayfield players had big offensive performances, including Daemon Christner, Josiah Mayfield, and Tavian Box.

In the 26-1 rout in Game 2, the Wolverines scored 7 runs in the first and second innings to take control early. Senior Daemon Christner went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs, and five RBIs, while junior Josiah Mayfield belted a grand slam and finished with four runs scored and five RBIs. Mayfield also earned the complete-game win on the mound, allowing just two hits and one walk while fanning seven.
