Bayfield's baseball team displays their offensive prowess in a decisive doubleheader sweep of league rival Centauri.Durango TodayThe Bayfield High School baseball team traveled to La Jara on Saturday and came away with two convincing wins against Centauri, crushing them 8-4 and 26-1. The Wolverines broke open a close Game 1 with a five-run fourth inning, while in Game 2 they scored 7 runs in the first and second innings to put the game away early. Several Bayfield players had big offensive performances, including Daemon Christner, Josiah Mayfield, and Tavian Box.

In Game 1, Bayfield trailed 3-2 through three innings before erupting for five runs in the fourth to pull away. Senior Tavian Box led the offense, going 1-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and a walk. Senior Caleb Beck also had a double and drove in a run. On the mound, senior Tristan Bennett earned the win, pitching three innings and striking out four. In the 26-1 rout in Game 2, the Wolverines scored 7 runs in the first and second innings to take control early. Senior Daemon Christner went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs, and five RBIs, while junior Josiah Mayfield belted a grand slam and finished with four runs scored and five RBIs. Mayfield also earned the complete-game win on the mound, allowing just two hits and one walk while fanning seven.
