The drive began several years ago when the club was threatened with closure, and the funds raised help support outdoor activities, arts and computer programs, as well as nutritious meals for 'latchkey' children.

The campaign has already received $15,200 in kickoff sponsorships from local organizations and individuals, including $5,000 each from Doctors at PRMG group and Redwood Credit Union, as well as smaller donations from Mendocino Forest Prod, Denise Gorny, Paul Shimmins, Kathy Smith, and Patrick Whalen. The club has expanded its programming over the years to include not just outdoor play and games, but also arts, computers, and additional resources to help kids navigate the world.
