Placer Parkway Project Gets Green Light for $61.6M First Phase

The Placer County Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved a $61.6 million contract for the first phase of the long-planned Placer Parkway project. The project will create a new connection between Highway 65 and North Foothills Boulevard, including building an elevated road and a 30-foot bridge over Industrial Avenue. This is part of a larger plan for a nearly 15-mile expressway connecting West Placer County to Highways 70 and 99 in Sutter County.

Traffic congestion has increased exponentially in West Placer County due to rapid population growth and new housing developments. The Placer Parkway project aims to provide much-needed relief by creating a new transportation corridor to improve traffic flow in the region.

The details

The first phase of the Placer Parkway project will involve moving more than 400,000 cubic yards of soil to build the elevated road and bridge. Once completed, drivers will be able to exit Highway 65 at the new Whitney Ranch Parkway, which will become part of the Placer Parkway. The overall Placer Parkway project is largely funded through development fees paid by builders as new homes are constructed in the area.
