San Luis Obispo County has secured over $10 million in disaster recovery funds to launch a Manufactured Home Replacement and Elevation Program. The program will provide replacement homes or elevation assistance to mobile and manufactured homeowners whose residences were damaged by the severe flooding, landslides, and mudslides during the 2022-2023 winter storms.

Why it matters

Mobile and manufactured homes are often occupied by the county's most vulnerable residents, who lack the resources to easily recover from natural disasters. This program aims to help these homeowners not only rebuild, but also make their homes more resilient to future extreme weather events that are becoming more common due to climate change.

The details

To qualify for the program, homeowners must own a manufactured home in a San Luis Obispo County mobile home park, have at least $3,000 in unmet repair or replacement needs from the 2022-2023 storms, have occupied the home as their primary residence at the time of the storms, and meet income requirements. Funding is limited, so applications will be reviewed and prioritized in the order they are received.
