Richmond Area Multi-Services, Inc. (RAMS), a non-profit mental health organization, celebrated the opening of its new headquarters at 601 Clement St. in San Francisco's Richmond District at the end of January. The $6.5 million building was funded by a state grant and will allow RAMS to expand its mental health services to the local community.
Why it matters
RAMS has been an important part of San Francisco's history, providing mental health services to the Asian American community in the Richmond District since 1974. The new headquarters represents a deeper investment in community care and will allow RAMS to reach more people in need of mental health support.
The details
The new RAMS headquarters is located in a historic building designed by architect Albert Pissis in 1912. The building was originally constructed as a branch of the German Savings & Loan Society of San Francisco. RAMS purchased the building for $5.3 million and plans to use the light-filled space to expand its outpatient counseling, high school wellness programs, and training for the next generation of mental health professionals.
- RAMS held a ribbon cutting ceremony on January 22, 2026 to celebrate the opening of the new facility.
- The building was last occupied by the Tat Wong Kung Fu Academy, which moved out in 2023.
