On the first night of the Roseville Sectionals, Luka Mijatovic, a 16-year-old Texas commit and national team member, narrowly missed breaking the 15-16 NAG record in the 400 IM with a time of 3:40.14, just 0.31 seconds off the mark. He also won the 200m freestyle with a time of 1:33.27, the second-fastest ever by a 15-16-year-old. In the girls' events, 14-year-old Lauren Lonsdale from Sacramento Aquatics dominated, setting a new personal best of 1:46.49 in the 200m freestyle and improving her 400 IM time by seven seconds to 4:12.62, placing her third nationally in her age group. The 13-year-old Ayden Tan also made a splash, winning the 50m backstroke in 22.94 seconds, the fastest time by a 13-year-old this season.
