Pasadena Village, a nonprofit membership community for adults over 55, is hosting an emergency preparedness workshop in partnership with the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management. The workshop is designed to help senior citizens prepare for and navigate disasters, with a focus on issues like medication, mobility aids, communication networks, and evacuation planning.

Why it matters

Older adults have distinct needs in a disaster, and these needs became especially stark in the Pasadena community after the January 2025 Eaton Fire. The workshop aims to provide seniors with the resources and information they need to stay safe and independent during emergencies.

The details

The workshop will be held at the Flintridge Center in Pasadena, where Pasadena Village maintains its office. County emergency preparedness presenters will guide attendees through go-bag essentials, evacuation planning for households with mobility considerations, and communication backups for when power, cell service, and broadband go down.

  • The emergency preparedness workshop will run on Wednesday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
