The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has selected the ioXt Alliance, the Global Standard for IoT Security, as the Lead Administrator for the United States Cyber Trust Mark program. This national initiative is designed to improve the cybersecurity of consumer internet-connected devices. As Lead Administrator, ioXt will oversee the operational integrity, coordination, and continued advancement of the U.S. Cyber Trust Mark ecosystem, ensuring that certified devices meet rigorous security requirements.

Why it matters

The rapid growth of connected devices across homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure has expanded both opportunity and risk. The U.S. Cyber Trust Mark program introduces a structured framework for verifying baseline cybersecurity protections across eligible IoT products, which will help consumers make informed purchasing decisions and strengthen trust in the IoT ecosystem.

The details

As Lead Administrator, ioXt will be responsible for implementing the program in alignment with FCC and NIST guidance, leveraging its experience as a nationally authorized Cybersecurity Labeling Authority (CLA), and operating a transparent, public-facing device registry to support accountability and informed decision-making. ioXt will work closely with federal partners, fellow CLAs, manufacturers, retailers, and industry groups to ensure program consistency, develop and expand the public registry, provide implementation guidance, and adapt to evolving cybersecurity requirements.
