Bonita's powerful home run hitting propels them to a key league victory over rival Glendora.Glendora TodayThe Bonita softball team, which entered Wednesday's showdown against Glendora with 30 home runs this season, showed its offensive firepower in a lopsided 12-3 victory to take sole possession of second place in the Palomares League. Sara Yeats and Serenity Reyes each hit a 3-run home run to power the Bearcats' offense, while Reyes also pitched a complete game for the win.
Why it matters
This was an important win for Bonita (18-5, 4-1) in the league race, as they are now just one game behind league leader Ayala (12-3, 5-0). Glendora (16-2-2, 3-2) suffered just its second loss of the season, making this a key result in the Palomares League standings.
The details
After Glendora freshman pitcher Emma Garcia retired the first nine Bonita batters, the Bearcats broke through in the fourth inning. Koe Puppe walked and AJ Mangini hit a double, setting up Sara Yeats' 3-run homer to left field. Serenity Reyes then blasted a 3-run shot of her own in the sixth inning to extend Bonita's lead to 6-0. Glendora's Siena Bobadilla hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the sixth, but Bonita pulled away with a 6-run seventh inning to win 12-3.
- The game was played on Wednesday, April 16, 2026.
- Bonita and Glendora will meet again on Friday, April 18, 2026 when Bonita hosts league leader Ayala.

What they’re saying
“It was definitely awesome, just to be able to hit that high pitch, which is definitely something I've struggled with.”
— Sara Yeats
“It was good, the hits are contagious. When you get one hit the team just keeps adding on.”
— AJ Mangini
“You have to give their team (Glendora) credit, especially their pitcher (Garcia). She kept us off balance the first three innings and we waited a little bit and were patient enough. We hung in there defensively and Serenity kept us in the game. We said be patient. And the hits started coming.”
— Darren Baumunk, Bonita coach
“I've been struggling with hitting so to get those for myself felt pretty good.”
— Serenity Reyes
“This was huge. To me this was like a playoff atmosphere. We knew if we didn't come in here and get the win now we're two games out of first place. Now we know going into Friday if we play like we did today, play defense and have Serenity pitch like she did and we can hit the ball, maybe we get one (win) from them.”
— Darren Baumunk, Bonita coach
What’s next
Bonita will host league leader Ayala on Friday, April 18, 2026 in a key Palomares League matchup.
The takeaway
Bonita's powerful offense, led by home runs from Sara Yeats and Serenity Reyes, proved too much for Glendora in this important league showdown. The win keeps Bonita in the hunt for the Palomares League title, setting up a pivotal matchup with undefeated Ayala later this week.
