The Imaginology festival sparks young minds with interactive STEAM exhibits that foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.Costa Mesa TodayThe Orange County Fair & Event Center hosted its annual Imaginology festival, drawing thousands of children and families to engage in interactive exhibits, games, and experiments focused on science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). From climbing on fire trucks to operating robots, the event encouraged young attendees to explore the world around them through hands-on learning and creativity.
Why it matters
Imaginology is a key community event that sparks curiosity and inspires the next generation of scientists, artists, and problem-solvers. By providing accessible, engaging STEAM activities, the festival helps foster an early interest in these critical fields and supports the development of essential skills like critical thinking and innovation.
The details
The two-day festival featured a packed schedule of live entertainment, musical performances, and interactive exhibits. Attendees could climb aboard a Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue ladder truck, operate robots, and express their artistic talents in a children's chalk art festival. A scavenger hunt challenged guests to visit 14 stations and stamp their 'passports' to earn prizes, while an 'American Ninja Warrior'-style adventure course and glider demonstrations from the Harbor Soaring Society offered additional hands-on learning opportunities.
- Imaginology took place on Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13, 2026.
- The in-person festival ended on Sunday, but online activities will remain available year-round at ocfair.com/imaginology/stem.
