The annual Del Bishop Optimist Kid's Fishing Derby at Atascadero Lake offers a serene, family-friendly setting for children to enjoy the outdoors and learn the art of fishing.Atascadero TodayThe Optimist Clubs of Paso Robles and Atascadero are hosting their annual Del Bishop Optimist Kid's Fishing Derby at Atascadero Lake on Sunday, April 19. The free event is open to all children under 15 and includes equipment rental, bait, instruction, and a hot dog lunch. Prizes will be awarded for the largest fish, smallest fish, and largest stringer.

The details

The derby will take place at Atascadero Lake, which is stocked with largemouth bass, catfish, bluegill, perch, and occasional rainbow trout. All state fishing regulations will be in effect, and participants must be aware of rules regarding catch and release or possession. The final weigh-in is at noon, followed by lunch and an awards ceremony.
