Developers have officially broken ground on a new dual-branded Wingate and Hawthorn Suites hotel at the SkyBridge Arizona master-planned development near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. The five-story, 129-room hotel is designed to cater to both short-term business travelers and extended-stay guests tied to the region's growing aerospace and manufacturing sectors.

Why it matters

The new hotel development is expected to be a significant job creator for the East Valley, with projections of up to 248 construction jobs and 111 operational positions. It also marks the first hospitality venture within the 363-acre SkyBridge Arizona international trade and logistics site, which has seen over $98 million in infrastructure and construction costs across more than 45 acres to date.

The details

The five-story, 70,586-square-foot hotel will feature a mix of Wingate and Hawthorn Suites rooms, as well as amenities like a fitness center, swimming pool, EV charging stations, an airport shuttle, and meeting space capable of holding 350 people. A future restaurant pad is also planned for the site. The project is being built by Alston Construction and was designed by Reflect Architecture, with a targeted opening in spring 2027.
