10 Great New Year’s Resolutions for 2019

New Year's Day

It’s that time of the year — the old year ends and a new one begins, urging us to make resolutions. But before we do, let’s remember that making resolutions is the easy part. Making them stick is the challenge. Smart people know not to make resolutions that test their resolve. Life goals can be achieved with small changes and baby steps. Get set for 10 Great New Year’s Resolutions for 2019.

1. Be Vegetarian Once a Day

Getting enough vegetables can be a challenge! But there’s a way around it. You don’t have to turn vegetarian or go on a crazy fad diet. Eat just one meal without meat and you’ll get healthier.

2. Work Out for 7 Minutes Each Day

We’re not saying don’t do more. This is for those days when you feel you’re too busy, or too lazy to workout. Got seven minutes? Then work out! Science proves that a high-intensity seven-minute workout has its benefits. There’s even an app for that.

3. Decelerate at the End of Each Day

Switch off all your electronic gadgets 30 minutes before bedtime. Take a shower to relax and then try some deep breathing and meditation. Read a bit. The idea is to calm your senses, practice mindfulness, and set a routine for better sleep to reduce stress.

4. Make New Friends

Friends improve the quality of our life. Make an effort to know new people at work or in your neighborhood.

5. Wake Up Happy

Start your day by being thankful. For one, you’re alive and today is full of possibilities! Counting your blessings and being hopeful can make you a more positive person and change  everything.

6. Waste Less

That includes both time and money. Also, try not to waste energy on negative people. And don’t worry so much. Make wasting less the mantra for 2019!

7. Have an Annual Career Checkup

How’s your career health? It’s time to sit back and think about your relationship with your job. Do you enjoy it? Or is there something else you’d rather do? How do you go about being more productive and happier at work?  To get answers we must first ask questions.

8. Create More Family Time

Our family is the rock upon which we rest. Most of us don’t have enough time to spend with the family. Let’s take baby steps by creating a little more family time every day. Eat dinner together. That’s a great start!

9. Learn a New Skill

Learning something new can shake things up a bit and make our life less monotonous. Think of what interests you — a foreign language, a baking class, picking up a new sport, or learning how to be a mime — whatever rocks your boat!

10. Conquer a Fear

Everybody is afraid of something. Or of attempting something. Maybe 2019 is the year to overcome a fear. You’ll be surprised at how your confidence soars after that.
