UW Extension Offers Private Pesticide Applicator Programs

Programs to take place in northeast Wyoming counties in February and March

Published on Feb. 23, 2026

The University of Wyoming Extension will offer ten pesticide safety education programs for private applicators in northeast Wyoming in February and March. The programs will take place in Crook, Johnson, Natrona, Sheridan and Weston counties, providing an overview of certification requirements, regulations, pesticide safety, handling, and disposal practices.

Why it matters

Private applicator licenses are required for anyone who purchases and applies restricted use pesticides (RUPs) to their own property or properties they manage. These programs help ensure private applicators are properly trained and licensed to handle pesticides safely and responsibly.

The details

The programs will cover topics such as certification requirements, pertinent regulations, pesticide safety and handling, and proper disposal practices. Applicators can attend any class that fits their schedule, and all participants are required to bring a government-issued ID. Upon completion, the proctor will submit the private applicator license applications to the Wyoming Department of Agriculture for approval and issuance of licenses.

  • The Sundance programs are scheduled for March 10 and March 30.
  • The Hulett program is scheduled for March 14.
