2G Engineering Unveils Intelligent Solid-State Relay for Extreme Environments

New iSSR device combines robust power switching with advanced monitoring and communications capabilities.

Published on Feb. 26, 2026

2G Engineering has announced the release of its intelligent Solid-State Relay (iSSR), a next-generation power switching solution designed for high-voltage, high-current DC loads in harsh subsea and industrial environments. The iSSR integrates protection, diagnostics, and high-speed data capture capabilities to improve reliability, safety, and maintainability in extreme conditions.

Why it matters

The iSSR represents a significant advancement in distributed power switching and control, giving system designers powerful tools to monitor and manage critical DC power distribution in mission-critical applications like offshore energy, subsea operations, and industrial automation.

The details

The iSSR can safely switch loads up to 800 volts and 60 amps, with features like bidirectional AC/DC blocking, constant-current pre-charge, and an integrated 48kW clamp for safe operation with inductive loads. It also includes an embedded oscilloscope mode to capture current waveform data, as well as support for Modbus, CAN bus, and other communication protocols to enable remote monitoring and control.
