Polaris Industries has announced plans to close its manufacturing facility in Osceola, Wisconsin by the end of 2026, affecting around 200 jobs. The closure is directly tied to Polaris' restructuring of its motorcycle business, including the spinoff of its Indian Motorcycle brand into a separate company with a majority stake sold to a private equity firm.
Why it matters
The Osceola plant has been a key part of Polaris' motorcycle operations for over 30 years, producing engines and powertrain components. Its closure represents a significant shift as the company refocuses its motorcycle business and transitions production to other facilities in Minnesota.
The details
Polaris says that as part of the Indian Motorcycle spinoff, the brand's production facilities in Monticello and Spirit Lake, Minnesota will transfer to the new ownership group. Meanwhile, the engine and clutch work currently handled at the Osceola plant will be relocated to Polaris' existing plant in Roseau, Minnesota.
