Three local civic organizations in Janesville, Wisconsin have invited U.S. Representatives Bryan Steil and Mark Pocan, as well as Senators Tammy Baldwin and Ron Johnson, to attend a community town hall meeting on February 21. The event, organized by the Town Hall Coalition, the League of Women Voters of Janesville, and Indivisible Rock County, is open to the public and will allow constituents 90 seconds each to deliver remarks to their elected officials.

Why it matters

This town hall meeting provides an opportunity for constituents in Janesville and the surrounding area to directly engage with their representatives in Congress and voice their ideas, concerns, and opinions. It comes after constituents expressed dissatisfaction that Rep. Steil had not held any in-person town halls since the inauguration of President Trump.

The details

The 'We the People Speak' town hall is scheduled for 2-3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 21 at the auditorium of Craig High School in Janesville. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. and constituents will be allowed 90 seconds each to deliver their remarks. The event will be livestreamed on the Town Hall Coalition's YouTube channel.
