WIAC players of the week named

Fuhremann, Beyer, Jakubiak, Rider, Goodreau, Doss, Fritsch, Scott, Zastrow, Sawyer, Rommeck, Dietz, and Cutts earn weekly honors

The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced its players of the week across several sports, including men's and women's basketball, women's gymnastics, men's and women's indoor track and field, women's ice hockey, women's lacrosse, and softball.

The details

In men's basketball, UW-Platteville's Joey Fuhremann averaged 25.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in wins over UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stout. On the women's side, UW-Oshkosh's Sammi Beyer helped the Titans clinch the WIAC regular-season title by averaging 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. In women's gymnastics, UW-Oshkosh's Kristina Jakubiak won the balance beam with a career-high 9.875, while UW-Whitewater's Juliette Rider won the vault and floor exercise. UW-River Falls' Megan Goodreau tallied a goal and two assists to become the program's all-time leading scorer. On the track, UW-Oshkosh's Dylan Doss set a personal record in the 60-meter dash, while teammate Gavin Fritsch reset the school record in the weight throw. UW-La Crosse's Regan Scott won the 60-meter hurdles, and UW-Stout's Leah Zastrow won the pole vault. In women's lacrosse, Augsburg's Breya Sawyer scored five goals with an assist in her debut, and UW-River Falls' Annelise Rommeck made 13 saves against a ranked opponent. Finally, in softball, UW-Platteville's Melissa Dietz went 8-for-8 at the plate and Bentley Cutts picked up a pair of wins without allowing a run.

  • On Feb. 18, Beyer led the Titans to a 61-35 win over UW-La Crosse.
  • On Feb. 19, Dietz went 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI in a win over Westminster College (Mo.).
  • On Feb. 20, Doss set a personal record in the 60-meter dash at the Division I University of Iowa Open.
  • On Feb. 21, Goodreau tallied a goal and two assists to become the Falcons' all-time leading scorer.
  • On Feb. 21, Rommeck made 13 saves in UW-River Falls' game against the University of Chicago.
