What they’re saying

“This was easily the best opening day of outdoor season that I can remember. I keep thinking from year to year as our records get better and better that we're going to slow down when it comes to putting new names and new records in the books, but we definitely didn't slow down today. Across the board in almost all specialty areas we saw new names and new records going in.”

— Mike Collins, Head Coach, LC State Track and Field

“It was exciting to see that a record that was set in the very first year of our track program in 1999 was broken. It is one that has been sitting for a very long time, so exciting to see Reid break that today.”

— Mike Collins, Head Coach, LC State Track and Field

What’s next

The LC State track and field team will look to build on their strong start to the outdoor season as they continue competing in meets throughout the spring.

The takeaway

The impressive performances by the LC State track and field team at the season opener demonstrate the program's continued excellence and growth, with new school records being set across multiple events. This bodes well for the Warriors' chances of success throughout the 2026 outdoor season.
