After winning the Super Bowl, the Seattle Seahawks are looking to build on their success and take another step forward. According to Seahawks Radio Network analyst and former NFL wide receiver Michael Bumpus, the area the team should focus on improving the most is the offensive line, particularly at the right guard position.
Why it matters
The Seahawks had a dominant 2025 season, boasting a top-ranked defense, a balanced and productive offense, and strong special teams. To maintain their championship window, they'll need to continue upgrading key areas, and Bumpus believes the offensive line is the most pressing need.
The details
Despite improvements in 2025, the Seahawks' offensive line still struggled at times, even in the Super Bowl win. The unit allowed 27 sacks during the regular season, down from 54 the previous year, but Bumpus singled out the right guard spot as an area that could use further upgrading. He feels that if the Seahawks can get even a small boost in performance at that position, it could help the team take another step forward.
- The Seahawks won the Super Bowl in the 2025 season.
- In 2024, the Seahawks' offensive line ranked 25th in pass blocking and 24th in run blocking per Pro Football Focus.
- In 2025, the offensive line improved to 21st in pass blocking and 11th in run blocking.
The players
Michael Bumpus
Seahawks Radio Network analyst and former NFL wide receiver.
Sam Darnold
Seahawks quarterback.
Anthony Bradford
Seahawks right guard.
Grey Zabel
Seahawks rookie first-round pick and new left guard.
Abraham Lucas
Seahawks right tackle who had a fully healthy season in 2025.
What they’re saying
“You got your quarterback, you got the best receiver in the game, D-line is ridiculous, you got Ernest (Jones IV) and Drake (Thomas) at the LB spots, secondary is on point. It's got to be offensive line. I think they got to hit one more time with the offensive line.”

“I think that if you come back and he's the starter, I'm not worried about it, but I feel like there could be some improvement there. Everywhere else, I think you're solid.”
— Michael Bumpus, Seahawks Radio Network analyst and former NFL wide receiver (Seattle Sports)
What’s next
The Seahawks will need to evaluate their offensive line options this offseason and determine if they can upgrade the right guard position to help the unit take another step forward and support their championship aspirations.
The takeaway
Even after winning the Super Bowl, the Seahawks recognize the need to continually improve their roster, and Bumpus believes the offensive line is the area that could use the most attention this offseason to help the team build on its success.
