Oregon State's baseball team suffered a 7-6 loss to Washington State on Tuesday, despite a late rally in the ninth inning. The Beavers committed just one error compared to three for the Cougars, but WSU outhit OSU 12-6. Oregon State starting pitcher Noah Scott allowed four earned runs in 2.2 innings of work. In the bottom of the first inning, Washington State's Ollie Obenour drove in a run with an RBI single, and Ryan Skjonsby followed with a two-RBI single to give the Cougars an early 3-0 lead. Skjonsby added another RBI single in the third to make it 4-0 WSU. Oregon State's offense benefited from several Cougar errors in the sixth, with Bryson Glassco reaching on an error and Paul Vazquez hitting a two-run home run. Nyan Hayes also scored on an error to cut the deficit to 4-3. But WSU answered with two more runs in the sixth to go up 6-3. The Cougars got what proved to be the decisive run in the eighth when Kyler Northrop drove in Ryan Skjonsby with a sacrifice fly.
