The Beavers committed just one error compared to three for the Cougars, but WSU outhit OSU 12-6. Oregon State starting pitcher Noah Scott allowed four earned runs in 2.2 innings of work. The Beavers trailed 6-3 entering the ninth before scoring three runs, but ultimately fell short in their comeback attempt.

The details
In the bottom of the first inning, Washington State's Ollie Obenour drove in a run with an RBI single, and Ryan Skjonsby followed with a two-RBI single to give the Cougars an early 3-0 lead. Skjonsby added another RBI single in the third to make it 4-0 WSU. Oregon State's offense benefited from several Cougar errors in the sixth, with Bryson Glassco reaching on an error and Paul Vazquez hitting a two-run home run. Nyan Hayes also scored on an error to cut the deficit to 4-3. But WSU answered with two more runs in the sixth to go up 6-3. The Cougars got what proved to be the decisive run in the eighth when Kyler Northrop drove in Ryan Skjonsby with a sacrifice fly. Oregon State mounted a late rally in the ninth, with Easton Talt tripling and scoring, Adam Haight hitting an RBI double, and Bryce Hubbard belting a two-run homer, but the Beavers ultimately fell short.
