The City of Danville, Virginia is still under a Boil Water Advisory, according to Danville Utilities Director Jason Gray. Gray spoke to River City TV about the situation, advising residents to boil or use bottled water for drinking, beverage and food preparation, and making ice until the advisory is lifted.
Why it matters
Boil water advisories are issued when there are concerns about the safety of the municipal water supply, often due to potential contamination. Failure to follow these advisories can result in serious health issues, so it's critical that residents take the necessary precautions.
The details
Gray says Danville Utilities has ramped up efforts to improve water quality as quickly as possible. The water has to meet two good samples in all pressure zones 24 hours apart before the Virginia Department of Health can lift the advisory. The earliest the advisory could be lifted is sometime on Thursday.
