The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) is hosting its annual Congressional Pharmacy Fly-in on April 15-16 in Washington, D.C. and Alexandria, Virginia. The event brings together community pharmacists from across the country to meet with members of Congress and their staff to advocate for key legislative priorities, particularly around reforming the practices of pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs).

Why it matters

Community pharmacists play a vital role in providing accessible and affordable healthcare to patients, but they have long been impacted by the opaque and anti-competitive practices of PBMs. The Fly-in is an opportunity for pharmacists to directly engage with policymakers and push for reforms that could level the playing field and protect their ability to serve their communities.

The details

During the two-day event, attendees will participate in meetings with their representatives in Congress to discuss bills aimed at PBM reform, as well as issues in other government healthcare programs like Medicaid, Tricare, and the Federal Employee Health Benefit Program. NCPA is encouraging pharmacists to register quickly, as slots for the Fly-in are filling up rapidly.
