Stallions Softball Welcomes New Coach Makenzie Green

Former Snow College and Southern Utah University player takes over Stansbury High School program.

Published on Feb. 25, 2026

After the departure of long-time softball coach Bridget Clinton, the Stansbury Stallions softball club brought Cedar City native Makenzie Green to take the reins ahead of the 2025-26 season. Green, who played high school softball for City High School before attending and playing at Snow College, is taking over a highly skilled team that won their region in the 4A classification and is returning a great deal of talent from the 2024-25 roster.

Why it matters

Green's hiring represents a changing of the guard for the Stallions softball program, which has been led by the same coach for many years. Her background as both a player and coach, as well as her emphasis on creating a positive experience for her players, could signal a new direction for the team.

The details

Green played softball in high school and at Snow College before transferring to Southern Utah University to finish her degree in physical education with an emphasis in coaching. After a negative experience with her college coach, Green decided to leave softball as an athlete and focus on becoming a coach herself. She spent five years coaching at Canyon View High School before pursuing a graduate degree at the University of Utah, where she met her husband who is from Tooele County. Green has spent the last four years teaching adaptive PE for the Tooele County School District and is now taking on the head coaching job for the Stallions.

What they’re saying

“The love of the game just kind of fell apart. My coaches in college did not make it a positive experience, so I went to SUU and decided I wanted to be done with softball.”

— Makenzie Green, New Stallions Softball Coach

“I want to teach these kids life skills that they are going to use in their life through the love of softball. If my players want to go on to the next level I will get them there… if we don't win a single game, and those kids step off the field having a fun enjoyable experience and learn something they will use in their daily life, that's 1,000% more of a win.”
