Utah Arranges Summer Visit With Three-Star Running Back

Malachi McFarland's visit could help shape the Utes' 2027 recruiting class.

Published on Mar. 11, 2026

The Utah Utes football program has secured a summer visit from three-star running back Malachi McFarland, a top target for their 2027 recruiting class. McFarland, who hails from Damien High School in California, will visit the Salt Lake City campus from June 19-21 after stops at Boise State and Cal.

Why it matters

Landing McFarland would be a significant boost for Utah's 2027 recruiting class, which currently has just one commit. The Utes are looking to build depth at running back, with their leading rusher Wayshawn Parker set to be a senior in 2027.

The details

McFarland is the No. 81-ranked running back and No. 96 overall recruit from California in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports. He earned first-team all-league honors last season after recording over 1,000 all-purpose yards and 12 touchdowns. Utah is competing with offers from Oregon, Colorado State, San Diego State, UNLV and Sacramento State for McFarland's commitment.
