The Carbon High School boys soccer team collected a 3-1 victory over the Union Cougars in their Region 13 opener on Wednesday. The Dinos scored all three of their goals in the first half, while the Cougars were only able to find the net once in the second half.

Why it matters

This win gives the Dinos a strong start to their region schedule as they look to compete for a spot in the state playoffs. Carbon has a few non-region games left, but most of their remaining contests will be against conference opponents.

The details

Carbon jumped out to a 3-0 lead at halftime, with three different players - Dayton King, Tayger Timothy, and Parks Cowdell - scoring for the Dinos. In the second half, Union was able to get one goal, but Carbon's defense held strong to secure the 3-1 victory.
