Grief Literacy: Practical Guidance for Supporting Those Experiencing Loss, a training session designed to help community members better support friends, family, and loved ones through grief, will be held on Thursday, February 19 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Riverton Larkin Mortuary in Riverton, Utah.
Why it matters
Grief can be a difficult and isolating experience, and many people struggle to provide meaningful support to those who are grieving. This training aims to build 'grief literacy' in the community and equip attendees with practical tools to respond to loss with compassion.
The details
The free training session will cover the nature of grief and provide guidance on how to offer support during difficult times. Rather than focusing on 'fixing' grief, the session will emphasize understanding, presence, and meaningful support. The event is sponsored by Larkin Mortuary and University of Utah Health Caring Connections.
