Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to identify and assess 2,700 privately-held companies headquartered in the United States, evaluating them in three primary areas: company reputation, employee satisfaction and growth. The 500 startups with the highest scores made the final ranking of America's Best Startup Employers 2026, representing a wide range of industries from retail to finance to tech.

The details

To qualify for consideration, startups had to have more than 50 employees, be founded between 2016 and 2023, and be an independent company. Each company was evaluated based on their reputation, employee satisfaction, and growth metrics like headcount, job openings, and website traffic. The top 500 startups made the final ranking, with Whatnot, Billd, and Cribl rounding out the top 3.
