Merrell Agility Peak 6 Gore-Tex Trail Shoe Reviewed
Sturdy and protective, but lacking rebound and breathability

The Merrell Agility Peak 6 Gore-Tex is a technical trail shoe with a sturdy outsole and protective midsole, but the Gore-Tex Invisible Fit upper adds stiffness and reduces breathability compared to the previous model. While suitable for hiking, the firm and unresponsive underfoot feel makes it less ideal for trail running.
Why it matters
The Agility Peak series is a popular choice for trail runners and hikers, and the addition of Gore-Tex is intended to make the shoe more versatile in wet conditions. However, the tradeoffs in flexibility, breathability, and underfoot feel may disappoint some users looking for a high-performance trail running shoe.
The details
The Agility Peak 6 Gore-Tex features the same FloatPro Foam midsole as the previous model, but with a higher stack height of 38mm in the heel and 30mm in the forefoot. The outsole uses Vibram Megagrip rubber with 5mm lugs for traction on technical terrain. The Gore-Tex Invisible Fit upper adds waterproofing but reduces flexibility and breathability compared to the regular version. Other changes include extended flex grooves in the midsole and the removal of gaiter compatibility.
- The Merrell Agility Peak 6 Gore-Tex was released in March 2026.

What they’re saying
“I miss the softer feel of the upper that I experienced with the regular version of the Agility Peak 5 and its plusher ride. I ventured out trail running in them and the midsole felt too firm and lacked any rebound.”

What’s next
The reviewer notes that the judge in the case will decide on Tuesday whether or not to allow Walker Reed Quinn out on bail.
The takeaway
The Merrell Agility Peak 6 Gore-Tex is a capable and protective trail shoe, but the tradeoffs in flexibility, breathability, and underfoot feel may make it better suited for hiking than technical trail running, especially compared to the previous non-Gore-Tex model.
