Park City mogulist Nick Page is debuting a new Captain America-themed helmet for the upcoming Milan Olympics next month. Page collaborated with Salt Lake City artist and auto detailer Jeff Permain to create the patriotic lid, as the Games do not allow sponsorship logos on helmets and Page's usual Deer Valley Resort logo cannot be featured. The two-time Olympian said he connected with the Marvel superhero character growing up and has had Permain design Captain America helmets for him before.

Why it matters

Page's new helmet design is a departure from the deck of cards featured on his previous two Olympic helmets, which served as a reminder of his love for playing poker in Las Vegas and betting on himself. The Captain America theme harks back to Page's childhood dreams and the journey that has now led him to compete at the highest level of mogul skiing.

The details

Page's new helmet will be on display when he competes in the solo and dual moguls events at the Milan Olympics on February 12 and 15. The Parkite finished fifth in the solo moguls competition at the 2022 Beijing Games and is currently ranked third in the world, making him a medal contender in Italy.

What they’re saying

“When I was little, I would always paint a helmet to look like a Captain America shield. So, I was thinking for this Olympics it'd be cool to do something that throws back a little to when I was a kid and reminds me of the kid that started out and the big dreams that I had back then that are now coming to life.”

The takeaway

Page's new Captain America-themed helmet design for the Milan Olympics represents the realization of his childhood dreams and serves as a reminder of his journey to the top of the mogul skiing world. The patriotic lid also highlights the creative freedom athletes have to express their personal interests and passions through their equipment at the Olympic Games.
