Lady Spartan Softball Struggles at St. George Tournament

The Lady Spartan softball team from Emery High School traveled to the annual St. George Tournament, taking on five teams from throughout the region. Despite some strong individual performances, the team was unable to collect a win, moving their season record to 0-7.

The details

In the opening game, Emery took an early 4-1 lead over Ridgeline Riverhawks from Millville, Utah, but the Riverhawks rallied with 12 unanswered runs to win 12-4. Against Blackfoot Broncos from Idaho, Emery again jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Blackfoot scored six runs in the bottom of the first and went on to win 14-4. Emery scored four runs in each of their next two games against Idaho Falls Tigers and Liberty Patriots, but fell short 10-4 and 11-1 respectively. The final game against Wasatch Wasps from Heber City was the most competitive, with Emery cutting a 7-0 deficit to 12-8 before ultimately losing 14-10.
