Three-star QB commits to TCU for 2027 class

Brice McCurdy, a dual-threat QB from Waco, Texas, picks TCU over Baylor and other offers.

Published on Feb. 15, 2026

Three-star quarterback Brice McCurdy of Waco (TX) Robinson High School has committed to join the TCU Horned Frogs' 2027 recruiting class. McCurdy, a dual-threat QB ranked No. 594 nationally, chose TCU over offers from Baylor, Cincinnati, Duke, UCF, and Arizona. He becomes the first member of TCU's 2027 class after the Horned Frogs lost a previous 2027 QB commit.

Why it matters

McCurdy's commitment provides an early foundation at the quarterback position for TCU's 2027 class, more than a year before the early signing period. His decision also impacts Baylor's 2027 QB recruiting, as the Bears had offered McCurdy but ultimately missed out on landing him.

The details

As a sophomore, the 6-foot-1, 205-pound McCurdy threw for 2,016 yards with 17 touchdowns and 5 interceptions, leading Robinson High to an 8-3 record and its first playoff appearance in 7 years. During his junior season in 2025, he surpassed 2,200 passing yards and rushed for nearly 700 yards.

  • McCurdy committed to TCU on February 15, 2026.
  • TCU lost a previous 2027 QB commit, Jerry Meyer III, on February 3, 2026.
