The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) Feik School of Pharmacy students achieved a 97% pass rate on the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX), the highest in the school's history and the best in the state of Texas.
Why it matters
The NAPLEX is a high-stakes exam used to determine competency for pharmacy licensure in the U.S. and Canada. UIW's top performance demonstrates the quality of its pharmacy program and its ability to prepare students for successful careers as pharmacists, especially in serving underserved communities across Texas.
The details
For the past five years, UIW's Feik School of Pharmacy has ranked in the top three in Texas for NAPLEX pass rates. However, this is the first time the school has achieved the No. 1 spot, outperforming the nine other pharmacy schools in the state. The school's 97% pass rate surpassed the state average of 87% and placed UIW seventh out of 142 pharmacy programs nationally.
