Texas Original, the state's largest medical cannabis provider, has opened five new locations across Texas, including two new satellite sites in San Antonio and Plano. The expansion follows the passing of House Bill 46, which legalized satellite locations and broadened the forms of cannabis patients can use under the Texas Compassionate Use Program.
Why it matters
The new locations will allow Texas Original to serve an additional 14,000 medical marijuana patients statewide, improving access to safe and reliable cannabis products for those with qualifying conditions. The expansion reflects the growing demand for medical marijuana in Texas, where recreational use remains illegal.
The details
The two new satellite locations in Plano and San Antonio allow for same-day pick-up and secure onsite storage of cannabis products. Texas Original also opened three new pick-up sites in Lubbock, Nacogdoches, and Tyler, which require same-day transport from a central facility. The company currently operates four satellite and 14 pickup sites across the state, with plans for additional openings this year.
- House Bill 46, which legalized satellite locations and expanded the Texas Compassionate Use Program, became effective in September.
- As of February 2026, 141,987 people were listed on the Compassionate Use Registry, a 7% increase from November 2025.
