Starting April 4, 2026, OUIGO Train Classique will connect Paris and Bordeaux, offering tickets from as little as €10. While the journey takes approximately 5h30, compared to 2 hours on a TGV Inoui, this modern service is poised to reshape travel options for budget-conscious and leisure-focused passengers.
Why it matters
The SNCF aims to attract around 100,000 travelers in the first year with this new line, reflecting a broader trend towards affordable rail travel in France. The service will cater to families and those willing to trade speed for cost savings, potentially disrupting the traditional high-speed rail market.
The details
The trains will operate on weekends, with two round trips each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, departing from Paris-Austerlitz and arriving at Bordeaux Saint-Jean, with stops in Juvisy, Les Aubrais (Orléans), Saint-Pierre-des-Corps (Tours), Futuroscope, Poitiers, and Angoulême. The trains are renovated Corail carriages, accommodating up to 720 passengers, but without Wi-Fi or an onboard bar service.
- The new OUIGO Paris-Bordeaux service will launch on April 4, 2026.
- Tickets for the 2026 service are expected to become available in March on SNCF Connect.
The players
SNCF
The French national railway company that is launching the new OUIGO Train Classique service.
OUIGO
A budget rail service operated by SNCF, which has already served over 6 million passengers across France since its launch in 2022.
Federation Nationale des Associations d'Usagers des Transports (FNAUT)
A French organization that has documented a 75% increase in average OUIGO prices over the past seven years.
What’s next
Tickets for the OUIGO Paris-Bordeaux 2026 service are expected to become available in March on the SNCF Connect platform.
The takeaway
The new OUIGO Train Classique service provides a compelling option for budget-conscious and leisure-focused travelers, offering significant cost savings compared to traditional high-speed rail. However, the TGV Inoui remains the fastest choice for weekday commutes or time-sensitive journeys.
