Carson Lopez of Legacy High School and Kamryn Weir of Midland High School have been named the Reporter-Telegram's Male and Female Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the period of March 30 to April 4. Lopez, a junior golfer, shot a 147 at the District 2-6A Boys Golf Championship to qualify for the regional tournament as an individual. Weir, a junior pitcher and infielder for the Lady Bulldogs softball team, had a dominant week at the plate and in the circle, including a 16-3 win over Odessa Permian.
