What they’re saying
“We couldn't get much going offensively and that's been kind of our issue in the preseason. We've been struggling in finding that finisher and finding someone who wants to get forward and be creative.”
— Ethan Baltier, Midland Legacy head coach (mrt.com)
“That was a good change from Tuesday. I think our guys were a lot more composed on the ball. We kind of found our spacing earlier in the game and that helped out a lot.”
— Braxton Thorne, Wolfforth Frenship head coach (mrt.com)
“That was huge. (The Rebels) had the big chance early and didn't finish it and they started creeping into the game a whole lot more and getting their chances. What I told my guys at halftime, is they had the run of play and we were able to kind of kill it in the first half when we scored the two goals. That was when they were more dominant. That was huge for us.”
— Braxton Thorne, Wolfforth Frenship head coach (mrt.com)
What’s next
The Rebels will look to get back in the win column when they go to Odessa to face Permian at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ratliff Stadium.
The takeaway
Frenship's strong defensive performance and two first-half goals proved to be the difference in this district matchup. The Tigers' ability to control possession and limit Legacy's scoring chances was key to their victory.
