MC Softball Sweeps Season Opener with Shutout Wins

Lady Chaparrals defeat Coastal Bend College in doubleheader

The Midland College softball team kicked off their season with a pair of shutout victories over Coastal Bend College on Saturday at the Freddie Ezell Softball Complex. The Lady Chaparrals won the first game 8-0 and the second game 5-0.

In the first game, pitcher Anays Perez allowed just one hit and struck out one over five innings. Offensively, Jalyn Montes homered and drove in three runs, while Karissa Garcia, Emma Davis, Perez, Alexys Cornejo, and Brianna Flores also contributed at the plate. In the second game, Marie Rondeau scattered four hits and struck out six for the Lady Chaparrals. Cornejo, Brianna Flores, and Suri Flores led the offense.
