Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Katy closes, ending Houston-area presence after 22 years

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has closed its La Centerra location in Katy, Texas, ending the theater chain's presence in the Greater Houston area after more than two decades. The closure comes as franchise partner Triple Tap Ventures, which operated four Alamo Drafthouse locations in Texas, is no longer operating theaters under the Alamo Drafthouse brand.

The details

The La Centerra location in Katy opened in August 2018 after Alamo Drafthouse had previously operated a theater on South Mason Road. The company also had a location in Cypress that closed in 2016 and was taken over by competitor Star Cinema Grill. Triple Tap Ventures, the franchisee that operated the Katy and other Texas locations, will no longer be associated with the Alamo Drafthouse brand.
