Scouting America has announced a new collaboration with NASA's Artemis program, providing Scouts across the country with access to age-appropriate learning experiences connected to the agency's missions to return humans to the Moon and prepare for future exploration of Mars. The partnership will include curriculum resources, experiential activities, and learning pathways that reflect real-world challenges of space exploration.
Why it matters
This collaboration builds on Scouting America's long history of supporting STEM education and fostering curiosity through hands-on learning. By connecting Scouts directly to one of the most ambitious exploration efforts of the 21st century, the program aims to ignite interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics while reinforcing Scouting's core values of leadership, innovation, and service.
The details
Through the collaboration, Scouts will explore topics such as aerospace engineering, robotics, earth and space science, and mission design. Activities will be aligned with Scouting advancement pathways and designed to inspire youth from all backgrounds to envision futures in STEM fields. The partnership will coincide with NASA's Artemis II mission, which will send four astronauts on a 10-day journey around the Moon aboard the Space Launch System and Orion spacecraft.
- Artemis II, NASA's first crewed mission to the Moon in over 50 years, is scheduled for 2026.
- The Scouting America and NASA collaboration was announced on April 1, 2026.
