UNLV Women's Swim Team Earns Three Medals at MW Championships

Rebels break school records and secure podium finishes on day two of the meet.

The UNLV women's swimming and diving team had a strong showing on the second day of the Mountain West Championships in Houston, earning three medals. Senior Erika Carlson broke the school record in the 200 free twice, taking silver. Sophomore Grace Wharton also earned silver in the 400 IM, posting the second-fastest time in program history. Junior Fernanda Mendez Guerra added a bronze medal in the 100 fly.

In addition to the three medal-winning performances, the Rebels had several other strong showings. Senior Cameron Mykkanen placed 10th in the 100 fly, while juniors Chelsey Dorosh and Allyse Abbott finished in the top 11 in 3-meter diving prelims. Freshman Rachel Wigginton recorded the fourth-fastest 400 IM time in school history, taking fifth place. The Rebels' 200 free relay team of Averi Webb, Mendez Guerra, Gina Miller and Carlson placed fifth.
