Born in 1930 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Walton graduated with a BA in Education from Southwestern University in Texas in 1950. She went on to have a nearly 40-year career in education before retiring to Leisure World in Mutual 2 in 1987. Always passionate about community service, Walton ran for and won a seat on the GRF Board, and also volunteered at the Health Care Center and for Meals on Wheels. In addition to her community work, Walton was known for her love of music, needlework, and cycling, even completing a 100-mile bike ride in Orange County in her later years.
