Mansfield Summit grinded out its second consecutive state championship in 5A Division II, edging out state power Beaumont United, 52-40, inside the Alamodome. Freshman Joseph Creal III led Summit with 20 points, including six 3-pointers, while the team's defense stifled United to shoot just 23.5% from the floor in the first half.
