The Dallas Cowboys have finalized their defensive coaching staff for the 2026 season, with Christian Parker taking over as the new defensive coordinator. Parker previously served as the Eagles' defensive pass game coordinator and defensive backs coach for the past two seasons. The rest of the defensive staff includes several new hires, including cornerbacks coach Ryan Smith, pass game coordinator Derrick Ansley, and outside linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe. The Cowboys have also added assistant offensive line coach/quality control coach Kyle Fuller and assistant wide receivers coach Stephen Bravo-Brown to the offensive staff.
Why it matters
The Cowboys are looking to rebound from a disappointing 2025 season, and the hiring of Christian Parker as defensive coordinator is a key part of that effort. Parker's experience with the rival Eagles defense could provide valuable insight as the Cowboys look to build a unit capable of slowing down their NFC East foes.
The details
Christian Parker was hired last month to replace Matt Eberflus as the Cowboys' defensive coordinator. Eberflus was fired after the team's dismal 2025 season. Parker spent the previous two seasons as the Eagles' defensive pass game coordinator and defensive backs coach, so he'll be bringing that experience to his new role in Dallas. The rest of the Cowboys' defensive staff includes cornerbacks coach Ryan Smith, pass game coordinator Derrick Ansley, defensive line coach Marcus Dixon, assistant defensive line coach Demeitre Brim, outside linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe, inside linebackers coach Scott Symons, and assistant secondary coach Robert Muschamp.
