Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) has revealed details of a massive expansion project, including a $743 million investment to build out the first phase of a new 31-gate international Terminal F, as well as a $79 million Skylink Station. The projects are part of a broader $4 billion expansion at the nation's third-busiest airport, which handles nearly 90 million passengers annually.

Why it matters

The DFW expansion reflects the airport's efforts to keep pace with growing passenger demand and modernize its facilities. As a major transportation hub, the upgrades will improve the travel experience for millions of passengers and support the region's continued economic growth.

The details

The new Terminal F will span 514,000 square feet and feature a walking connection to Terminal D, modernized baggage claim, a parking garage, ticketing and check-in areas, security screening, shops, restaurants, and public art. The 44,000 square-foot Skylink Station will connect to the airport's elevated Automated People Mover System. Both projects are expected to be completed by May 2027.

  • Crews officially broke ground on Terminal F in November 2024.
  • The DFW International Airport Board approved nearly $200 million in additional work on Terminal F and the Skylink Station in November and December 2026.
  • In January 2027, the board approved another $582 million increase to the Terminal F expansion contract and extended the agreement through August 2028.
