Dallas County Launches Free Edible Garden Training

Dallas County Health and Human Services is launching a free Edible Garden Training For All series to teach local residents the fundamentals of urban gardening, including topics like soil health, raised beds, smart irrigation, vegetables, fruits, harvesting, integrated pest management, storage tips, backyard chickens, and marketing your products.

The free training series will be held at three locations across Dallas County - the Garland Urban Farm, West Dallas Multipurpose Center, and Dallas College Cedar Valley - with classes running from February through April. Residents will learn everything from mastering soil health to the secrets of raising backyard chickens. There will also be a related "Gardening Fun You Can Dig" event at the Fort Worth Botanical Garden.
