Courtney Allen has been named the new head football coach at Mansfield Legacy, Mansfield ISD announced on Friday. Allen was previously a head coach at North Crowley and Mesquite Horn, where he had a combined record of 34-39. He will replace Jeff Hulme, who announced his departure to become defensive coordinator at Eastern New Mexico University.

Why it matters

Mansfield Legacy has struggled in recent years, going 20-51 over the last seven seasons. The team is dropping down to 5A Division I in the upcoming UIL realignment, so Allen's hiring represents an opportunity to turn the program around.

The details

Allen was 15-16 in three years as Mesquite Horn's head coach, making the playoffs and going 8-3 in his first season in 2022. At North Crowley, he had a 19-23 record but made the playoffs in his final two seasons, going 7-4 both times. Prior to becoming a head coach, Allen served as a defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Fort Worth O.D. Wyatt and Lancaster.
