The No. 2 Texas Longhorns softball team defeated the Syracuse Orange 14-6 in the Bevo Classic at McCombs Field in Austin. Texas catcher Reese Atwood hit two home runs, becoming the program's all-time leader in home runs, and the Longhorns blew open an early 6-0 lead with eight more runs late in the game to secure the mercy-rule victory.
