Brownwood Lady Lions Track Team Wins Second Straight Meet Title

The Brownwood Lady Lions track and field team secured their second consecutive meet championship at the Steve Goben Invitational in Burleson, Texas on Thursday. The Lady Lions, who are the reigning Class 4A state champions, produced 89 points to edge out runner-up Class 6A Mansfield (87.5 points) and third-place Class 5A Aledo (65.5 points). The Lady Lions won the 4x100 relay, the 4x200 relay, and had individual victories in the 200 meters and 300-meter hurdles.

The Lady Lions' 4x100 relay team of Icess Hall, Kaya Phillips, Jade Morin, and Aniah Hines won the event in a time of 47.78 seconds. Phillips also won the 200 meters with a time of 25.44 seconds, and the 4x200 relay team of Hall, Hines, Morin, and Phillips had the fastest time of the day at 1:42.53. Due to rainy conditions, the times for the 100 meters and 100-meter hurdles were not included in the final results, but Brownwood's Grace Sparks and Jentry Coalson were expected to finish second and third in the hurdles, and Icess Hall would have been a top-six finisher in the 100 meters.
