Winnefred Earl Briggs, a 60-year-old resident of Abilene, Texas, passed away on March 9, 2026. Earl, as he was known, will be interred at the Coleman City Cemetery beside his parents. He was an only child but formed close bonds with two sisters, Brenda and Deborah, who referred to him as their "favorite little brother." Earl participated in Special Olympics throughout his life and worked at the JCI Sheltered Workshop, which he greatly enjoyed. He is remembered for his cheerful and kind demeanor, and is survived by his sisters, a special friend, and his Sunday school teacher.

Earl was born on July 27, 1965, in Abilene, Texas to Winnefred E. Briggs Sr. and Jewel Briggs. He attended the Little Flame and Big Flame Schools and graduated in 1985. During his school years, he participated in Special Olympics and was especially proud of the gold medal he won in the softball throw competition. As an only child, Earl formed close bonds with two sisters, Brenda and Deborah, who referred to him as their "favorite little brother." Throughout his life, Earl worked at the JCI Sheltered Workshop, which he greatly enjoyed. He lived in various group homes and had many wonderful caregivers, including Fernando, Amelia, Penny, and his nurse, Lacey.
